31st October 2012, Vancouver – Recon Instruments, award-winning innovator of Heads-up Display (HUD) technology for action sports, is proud to announce Oakley as their latest brand partner. This partnership has led to the development of the new Oakley Airwave™ ski and snowboard goggle, combining Recon’s pioneering HUD technology with Oakley’s best goggle technologies. World leaders in their respective fields, Recon Instruments and Oakley have completely re-defined the on-hill experience for both athletes and recreational skiers and snowboarders.
Providing the user with essential information, Recon’s HUD tracks and displays real-time performance information including speed, distance, jump airtime, altitude, and vertical descent, instantly transmitted direct-to-eye. Precision GPS allows on-hill navigation and enables the tracking of buddies and points of interest. The HUDalso gives the user direct access to SMS messages, caller ID and the control of music playlists from either an Android™ smartphone or iPhone® (iPhone 4S and above). The user decides what information they see and when they see it using the wireless, glove-friendly remote.
Recon’s HUD is powered by their proprietary OS micro-computer, allowing app developers to leverage Recon Instruments Software Development Kit (SDK) to design the first apps for HUD technology. Through apps, the Recon HUD is fully customizable by the user. For example, they may want real-time weather updates, or perhaps they wish to monitor their heart rate. All this and much more is possible.
“We are delighted to announce this new partnership with the world’s leading eyewear brand,” said Dan Eisenhardt, CEO of Recon Instruments. “Recon prides itself on delivering user-defined, instant information, direct-to-eye. Our fully customizable HUDs make this possible and we are excited to see the diverse range of apps created by the developer community throughout the season.”
